Clinical Research Training
Applications are invited for 2006 scholarships in Clinical Epidemiology and for PhDs in Renal Medicine. Clinical Epidemiology Training Scholarships in Renal MedicineApplications are invited for scholarships to support Clinical Epidemiology training by medical graduates registered to practice in Australia and to encourage science or health related honours graduates of outstanding ability to study full or part-time in Clinical Epidemiology programs offered by tertiary institutions in Australia. These Clinical Epidemiology Training Scholarships in Renal Medicine are available through an NHMRC funded Centre of Clinical Research Excellence in Renal Medicine 5-year grant (2003-2007). The total number of scholarships and the amount awarded will vary according to demand, up to a maximum of $5000 per year awarded for 2006, for up to 2 years. Preference will be given to applicants who wish to enrol at Universities affiliated with the CCRE in Renal Medicine (Sydney and Monash) and from Institutions which comprise the CCRE in Renal Medicine (Children's Hospital at Westmead, Westmead Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Prince Alfred Hospital), but applicants who wish to enrol in suitable programs (Clinical Epidemiology or Public Health) at other Universities and/or who are from other Institutions will be considered. Up to 3 PhD scholarships may be awarded for 2006, and for a total duration of 3 years Like NHMRC PhD Scholarships, these scholarships are awarded to provide full-time research experience to medical graduates registered to practice in Australia and to encourage science or health related honours graduates of outstanding ability to gain full-time medical research experience in Australia. These Scholarships are restricted to clinical research in Renal Medicine as the area of study, and to applicants who will be supervised by a Chief Investigator of the CCRE in Renal Medicine. The application process is outlined on the NHMRC website at http://www.health.gov.au/nhmrc/funding/scholarships.htm Criteria for selection are also provided on the website, but in addition, contribution to the overall strategic direction of the CCRE in Renal Medicine, and likelihood of funding directly from the NHMRC will also be considered.
